Privacy policy
This policy explains how Vijana wa Dejong Tanzania (“we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the VDejong mobile app and the website at https://vdejong.co.tz. It applies to this app and this website.
Information we collect
- Account. Name, email address, phone number, a password stored only as a secure hash, and a profile photo if you add one.
- Google or Apple sign-in. If you choose it, we receive the name and email address that Google or Apple shares with us for that sign-in.
- Membership. The details and documents you submit in an application, your address fields, attendance, and your membership number.
- Messages. Text, photos, and voice messages you send. The message contents are encrypted on your device before they are stored. We do not read that encrypted text. Names and photos shown in a conversation are stored so the app can deliver messages to the right members.
- Camera and microphone. Used only when you take a photo or record a voice message. The app does not record in the background.
- Notifications. A device token so we can send alerts about messages, new videos, and shop orders. You can turn notifications off in the phone settings.
- Shop. The products you order, the delivery details you enter, and the mobile number you give for payment. We do not receive or store your mobile-money PIN.
- Device. A device name sent when you sign in, so that session can be recognized.
How we use it
We use this information to create and protect your account, review membership, deliver messages and notifications, show the organization’s videos, process shop orders, and keep attendance and membership records. We do not sell personal information.
Who receives it
- Our staff see membership applications, attendance, and shop orders so they can run the organization.
- Google Firebase provides sign-in support, stores encrypted chat, and delivers notifications.
- SenjaroPay receives the payment amount, the mobile number you enter, and your name and email when you pay for a physical product. SenjaroPay sends that request to the mobile-money network for that number, such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, T-Pesa, or Halotel.
- Our website host stores the account, membership, and order records for vdejong.co.tz.
How long we keep it
We keep account and membership information while your membership is active and for as long as we need it for the organization’s records. Shop orders are kept so the office can deliver what you bought and keep a payment record. You can ask us to delete your account as described below.
Delete your account
You can ask us to delete the VDejong account that you created in the app. Email [email protected] from the email address on the account, with the subject “Delete my VDejong account”. We will delete the login account and the profile stored for the app. We may keep a membership or shop record where we still need it to complete an order or to meet a legal duty. You can also open Privacy policy from your profile in the app and use Delete account.
Children
The app is for members and applicants of Vijana wa Dejong Tanzania. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent who believes we have such information can email us and we will delete it.
Child safety standards
Vijana wa Dejong Tanzania does not allow child sexual abuse and exploitation in the app. This includes sexual content involving anyone under 18, grooming, and sharing or asking for such material.
- Members can report a person or a message in the app, and they can block someone so that person cannot contact them.
- Staff review reports and can remove the content, remove the member from a chat, or close the account.
- If we learn of child sexual abuse material, we remove it and report it to the relevant authority where the law requires that.
